“Connecting cultures through surfing”
Through different projects, initiatives and exchanges, Cross Culture Surf uses surfing to bring people together, embrace diversity and to promote cultural awareness.
It began in May 2011 when Joseba Attard and Jono Griffin (Director of The Surf Project) met at a European surf conference in Biarritz organised by Christian Surfers. They talked about the idea of setting up an exchange between the Basque Country and Ireland and 3 months later, Cross Culture Surf was born. The European Union “Youth in Action” scheme caught the vision and funded 60% of the initial exchange between the Basque Country and Ireland.
In 2013, Cross Culture Surf was officially registered as its own non-profit association based in the Basque Country.
